If you are going to setup a new #Hashtag for your business please remember to do a trial run first. Set up a couple of ideas in TweetDeck.com and watch your chosen #Hashtag for a couple of weeks. This way you will have an idea if anyone else is using the #Hashtag you want to use. I watched a “Twitter expert” make this mistake and it was very embarrassing.
I think it is important for businesses to setup their own #Hashtag for example I have called mine #Twitter4Biz so every Tweet I send that is relevant to Twitter for SMEs I add this #Twitter4Biz #Hashtag at the end of the Tweet.
Even if people do not click #Twitter4Biz they understand what category the Tweet lives in.
Crafting a great Tweet is also really important; I recommend that you use no more than 3 #Hashtags at the most and that you place them at the end of the Tweet. You don’t want your Tweet to look as if you are spamming. And evidence suggests that links placed in the middle of a Tweet get more clicks
Make your Tweets easy to read so they flow….
